NOTES
This bag is cute but on the small side.

Dec instructions were wrong; and there were several small errors in the pattern — would not make again.

Yarn care: Machine wash gentle, tumble dry low, do not bleach, do not iron, do not dry clean
Leftover Yarn:  0.6 oz, 79 yds yarn

Stitch Guide
Front Post DC:
Yarn over, insert hook from front to back around the vertical post (upright part) of next st, yarn over and pull up a loop even with loop on hook, yarn over and complete dc.

Better HDC Decrease:
1.    Yarn over hook, insert hook in 1st stitch, and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook).
2.    Yarn over hook, and insert hook in 2nd stitch.
3.    Yarn over hook, and draw yarn through all loops (both the 2nd st and the 4 loops on the hook) in one motion.

276. Little Ditty Bag

Crochet, project 276. Completed 10/22/2010

So cute!

PATTERN
Adapted from the pattern for Dot’s Little Ditty Bag by Dot Matthews

MADE FOR
Myself

SIZE
About 4″ tall and 15″ around

Gauge: Not important

MATERIALS
Yarn: About 1.5 oz worsted weight yarn

Crochet Hook: US Size H-8 (5mm)

NOTES
A small evening bag that holds a wallet and lipstick. Handle loops under a small opening to keep the bag shut. I made the handle a little longer. Bag needs a liner (I used a clean handkerchief). This bag could easily be dressed up with an embellishment, such as a brooch or crocheted flower. I would like to make the bag again, but in a larger size, and felt it down.

Color Inspiration: Striped Bag

Comments Off

I received this gift bag recently and loved the color scheme. It would translate nicely into any knitting or crochet project with stripes, such as a sweater, hat, or baby blanket. Primarily chocolate brown, the bag also has stripes in dark pink, lime green, baby blue, and light pink. It was tied with a light pink ribbon.

This would be fabulous as a knitted (or crocheted) and felted tote bag. I extrapolated the color pattern into rows (rounds). To knit or crochet this pattern would take 78 rounds using 5 colors as follows:

8 rounds Chocolate (color A)
7 rounds Hot Pink (color B)
2 rounds Lime Green (color C)
4 rounds Chocolate (color A)
1 round Light Blue (color D)
2 rounds Chocolate (color A)
7 rounds Light Pink (color E)
1 rounds Chocolate (color A)
3 rounds Light Blue (color D)
3 rounds Chocolate (color A)
7 rounds Light Blue (color D)
2 rounds Chocolate (color A)
1 rounds Light Blue (color D)
2 rounds Light Pink (color E)
1 rounds Hot Pink (color B)
3 rounds Light Pink (color E)
5 rounds Lime Green (color C)
4 rounds Chocolate (color A)
4 rounds Hot Pink (color B)
2 rounds Lime Green (color C)
3 rounds Chocolate (color A)
1 rounds Light Blue (color D)

3 rounds Light Pink (color E)
