Cook’s Notes: Excellent dish. You could also serve this dish with a “great big green salad”, but two patties on pita are very filling. I recommend making double the sauce.
1.25 lb pkg ground turkey
2 T dried oregano
1 T dried minced onion
2.5 tsp dried thyme
1 c plain yogurt
1/2 cucumber, seeded and chopped
2 tsp dried minced onion
2 tsp garlic powder (Garlic Garni)
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground black pepper
6 whole wheat pitas, cut in half
In a large mixing bowl, mix together the ground turkey, oregano, minced onion, and thyme. Mix well, and shape into 12 small patties.
Coat a non-stick skillet with cooking spray. Sauté patties in a hot skillet over medium-high heat, turning once, about 4 to 5 minutes on each side until cooked through but not dried out.
Mix the sauce ingredients. Assemble sandwiches by placing 1 turkey patty in each pita half and topping with yogurt sauce.
