Crochet, project 243. Completed 5/13/2010
Adapted from instructions posted to the crochetme site
Blocked to 6″ wide by 37.5″ long
Original pattern size: 6″ wide x 48″ long after blocking
Yarn: 2 oz /126 yds lightweight yarn:
2 balls Jojoland Rhythm Superwash (100% Wool), 50g / 1.75 oz, 110 yds. Color R576 (red mix).
Crochet Hook: US Size I-9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook
Not important. Chained until I had 34″ long and a multiple of 5 (plus 1) to fit the pattern stitch: ch 126. Blocking stretched it to 37.5″ long.
Original pattern used sock yarn and a US H-8 (5 mm) hook.
Scarf is worked lengthwise. I modified the last row: work as stated, but ch 3 instead of drawing up a loop. In this way, the edge will match the starting chain.
This would also be great made long and skinny (working short rows across the width) until 50″ or even 74″ long.
Pattern author Christie P. notes, “This pattern is very easy, but the one thing I had trouble with was keeping my lace loops a consistent size. Pull up the loop to about 1″ in height (or desired height) and hold it with your finger while making the next stitch. It will hold the loop in place and keep your loop sizes more even.”
