Crochet, project 290. Completed 21-Feb-2011
Adapted from a design by Patricia Colloton-Walsh. Published in Sock Yarn One-Skein Wonders
Better HDC Decrease: Adapted from Lily Chin’s Crochet Tips and Tricks
Bag 6 inches long (about 7 inches long with bottom curve). Handles 22 inches long.
Will hold about 6 apples. GAUGE: 4 sts per inch
Yarn: 2.9 oz, 381 yds (1.7 balls) sock yarn (fingering weight)
- 2 balls Deborah Norville Collection Serenity Sock Yarn (50% Merino Wool/25% Bamboo/25% Nylon). 1.75 oz / 50 g. 230 yds / 210 m. Color: Aquamarine.
Crochet Hooks: US Size H-8 (5mm) and K-10.5 (6.5 mm)
This bag is cute but on the small side.
Dec instructions were wrong; and there were several small errors in the pattern — would not make again.
Yarn care: Machine wash gentle, tumble dry low, do not bleach, do not iron, do not dry clean
Leftover Yarn: 0.6 oz, 79 yds yarn
Front Post DC:
Yarn over, insert hook from front to back around the vertical post (upright part) of next st, yarn over and pull up a loop even with loop on hook, yarn over and complete dc.
Better HDC Decrease:
1. Yarn over hook, insert hook in 1st stitch, and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook).
2. Yarn over hook, and insert hook in 2nd stitch.
3. Yarn over hook, and draw yarn through all loops (both the 2nd st and the 4 loops on the hook) in one motion.
