Cook’s notes: It’s too hot here in the Southwest to have the traditional “hot dog and hamburger” cook out for Independence Day (also, I never eat red meat). Instead, I made these delightful Turkey Sloppy Joes from Ambitious Kitchen. I might reduce the ketchup next time to bring down the sweetness.
Menu: Served on whole wheat buns with cornichons and a side of fresh cherries (some vinegar cole slaw would go well with this meal). You can also serve the sloppy joe mix over pasta.
