Cook’s notes: Very ripe Haas avocados are the key to this recipe. We omit the cilantro and jalapeno.

Method

Ingredient

1.     Mash 2 of the avocados to a relatively smooth puree using a fork in a medium bowl.

3 Haas avocados, pitted and cut into 1/2-inch cubes

2.    Fold the last cubed avocado and the remaining ingredients into the mashed avocado.

1/2 small red onion, minced

2 Tablespoons fresh lime juice

1 garlic clove, minced

1/2 teaspoon cumin

1/4 teaspoon salt

3.    Season with additional salt and fresh lime juice before serving.
